Is Excelsior right for me?

Published

Hi everyone! My name is Jessica. I have been a LPN for about seven years now. After seven years of working as a LPN, I feel that I'm ready to take the next step with my career and become a RN.

I have heard some great things about Excelsior, but I can't help but be nervous about it. I'm looking for some honest opinions here. Is this a good program? Is it very difficult because it is long distance learning vs. more hands on learning? I'm also very fearful about the clinical aspects of it, because it seems you don't get a lot of hands on learning.

Honestly, any advice and or opinions would be greatly appreciated. I truly feel I just need to get over my fear, and take the leap. But I just want to hear what everyone else has to say about it first!

Thank you so much for any input you can give me!!!

I to am really thinking hard about this program. I have worked as an lpn for almost 7 yrs, in ob and doing private duty school nursing. I have deferred the traditional nursing program two times due to the need to work and I would have to quit my current job to go to school. They have called me to start in january, and if I saw no I will have to reapply and go to the bottom of the list. I talked with my supervisor in ob at the hospital and she said if I do excelsior, she would help me gain all the skills ended to pass the cpne, so I feel I should go for it! My only concern is I need a study buddy, if your interested.
