be looking for a new job? I didn't know if it is better to wait until after the 1st of the year. I know it's close but was just wondering if HR is doing the bare minimum at this time of year.

HR is always slow, but yeah, now seems like a particularly bad time to be hanging near the telephone, waiting for a phone call.

In other fields it is an excellent time, but in the realm of hospitals; it is not the best. Most are operating at skeleton crews for this last week, and will not make any decisions until after the holidays.
No problem with sending in applications at this time, but do not expect any type of response from them until after next week for most facilities.

Nursing schools just graduated people who will be starting in January, if not already at work. So now is a good time.

I just applied for a position the day after christmas, got an email the next day, phone call today, interview scheduled for next week. Maybe not too many people are looking 2/2 the holidays, maybe chances are better to apply, I still see the postings.. Drop in census in house is only temp at this time of the year, the positions are still there, GO FOR IT !!!

Why not? We just had 2 nurses quit 2 weeks ago. If staff is needed they will call, and fast.
Happy new year, and good luck with finding that dream job(call me when you do ok?)
