Hi,is anyone going to take CGFNS in this coming July in New York?:nuke:

Very few are now taking that exam as it is only needed for about four states in the entire US. Makes no sense to write it if it is not required. Will not get you a license to practice in the US.

And if one is already in the US, they should be writing just the NCLEX-RN exam unless for one of the states that requires it for initial licensure.

You don't ned CGFNS exam for NY they do CVS which is something totally different. Also we are not seeing many posting that they found a petitioner in NY some have posted how hard it is for them to find a petitioner and they trained in NY but on F1

CGFNS exam has not been a requirement for NY for years and years.

The require the CVS, which is a special evaluation done by CGFNS, but not the actual exam.

thank you so much both, finally i know that~~i always thought they require CVS means need CGFNS certificate.

Sorry,Sliverdragon,i didn't understand so well about you said hard to find a petitioner and they trained in NY on F1,is that mean NY is hard to apply for even study nursing in NY?I'm going to take CG in this July, and also going to take NCLEX in Aug,I applied for NM nursing BON.if i passed NCLEX,i'm going to transfer my licensure to NY,so by the time if i got CG certificate,is that process will be kind of shorter?

Nothing is any shorter if you are going to go thru NY, you still have to complete the CVS process and that is about 8 months on average.

And NY does not do anything with the CGFNS Certificate unless one is applying for the Limited Permit for there, but as a foreign nurse, you cannot get hired with that.

You also made mention of training in NY. Have you actually done that for your RN? If so, then you do not even need the CGFNS exam or the CVS.

What we are trying to tell you is that we have not seen any hospitals petitioning in NY for sometime. The entire country is under the retrogression so no visas are being issued.

Oh,so sad~~did that mean i need to consider for another job better if i'm trying to stay here?

You have me confused at this point in time. Did you train in NY for nursing, or did you train in your home country first of all? Are you already living in NY with another type of visa?

The issue right now is that we are not seeing hospitals from there petitioning, and have not seen it in more than a year. And with the current retrogression, we do not expect to see it for some time, and I mean years, not months.

If you do not already have a visa that will permit you to work here, even with finding an employer, there are no visas available for you.
