Time For A Change

  1. I have been a nurse for 20 years. I have done so many different fields in nursing and now am ready for a change. I have been looking i to forensic nursing. I wonder if there are jobs available out there in this field and also if degree verses certification makes a difference.

Hi there and welcome. Are you talking about death investigation or sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE)? Much depends on what is available locally. Our level one trauma center has SANE nurses on duty or on call 24/7. There are no death examiner nurses in my area. This would be an area where I would be interested also. May I ask what state you live in? I am in central IL.

    Hi ,
Thank you for responding, I am living in Chicago area. I am leaning towards death investigation nursing, crime scene. I just am very unsure of the demand and the best way to approach this new career. Is it best to get a certification or actual degree. I have a degree in nursing and a large knowledge base from all the different aspecs of nursing I have tried. Just unsure where to start
