I am reintroducing myself of sorts after a nearly 3 year hiatus from allnurses.
I religiously read the allnurses newsletters that make their way into my oh-so-cluttered inbox, but it has been a VERY long time since I actually ventured onto the website.
A lot has happenned in my life since I first joined. On my first post, I was a BRAND new nurse working in a hospital in Northern British Columbia, Canada. I have since moved down to Vancouver and am working in a large tertiary center on an orthopedic ward (mostly trauma). I am also married now and have a Boston Terrier pup who I love VERY MUCH (and the husband is alright too, I guess.
Being three years out and gaining a LOT of experience in between (I worked in ER holding and a makeshift unit aimed at further decanting the ER for almost two years before securing this ortho position) has made me not only a stronger practitioner with better judgement, but also a lot more realistic, straight forward, and to the point. I still hold onto my love of life long learning, of course, but I have really chilled out and think I am able to see things through a similar lens as my oh so wise preceptor of yesteryear (She would be so proud.).
Look forward to posting here again and adding my 2 cents!
