Newcomer to Georgia

  1. Hi Everyone ,

I moved from New York to Georgia a month ago. I am Happily married and a mother to two girls ages 3 and 9. I've been thinking about become an RN for many years now. I graduated HS in 1992, I have now decided that it is time to put my thoughts into action. I will be starting Anatomy and Physology 1 in April of this year. Unfortunately the school I will be attending accepts application for the RN program once a year . Hopefully, I will past all of the Prerequisite and get accepted next year. Wish me luck, I've been out of school for a long time, I am so afraid of the A&P classes.

I felt like I was reading my own story!! I also graduated in 1992. After a tour with the Navy, I used my college funds to go back to school and finish what I had started in Florida. Anyways, at the time both of my kids were very young and going back after close to 6 years out of college settinmgs was SCARY!! A & P was scary too but once I learned to do crazy dances and use word association with EVERYTHING, it seemed to all come to me. Keep in mind I am in veterinary medicine and sometimes remembering that the dog/cat/horse/pig/and others have the same stomach muscles just in different places doesn't come naturally. Also don't let me get started on the differences in a ruminants basic gastro tract!!!
Where are you in Georgia? I am located in Northeastern GA near South & North Carolina.

I live in Douglasville, GA, I am taking the first few courses at West Georgia Technical school. Which is the only school in my area that offers the ADN. I may use your word association method to get through A&P 1 next semester. If anyone has any advice , please don't hesitate to share.

You can do it and will do well. I returned to school in Jan of 03 after graduated H.S in 1977 and got straight A's in prereqs. I too am planning to relocate to GA after graduation in Aug of 05. I am a new member also, wish you success. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Good luck. A&P classes kick butt that's no lie. But they are the backbone of nursing. Study hard. Good luck to you.
