New to the board and I already have a question!!

  1. I am currently enrolled in the masters of social work program at my school, but I've been strongly thinking about going into nursing. I was wondering if it would be wise to get my BSN and my MSW combined or if I should just stick with nursing?? I would like to try and combined those 2 degrees, but I am not sure if there is a need for such a person. Thoughts?

    Hi there!

I have no clue, LOL! But welcome anyways!

There is a forum called nursing careers or something like that, try it!

It is an interesting combination. As an end result do you want to be in social work or a nurse? If it is SW than why not go after whatever BA a social worker needs to get into a masters program? Seems more direct.

yeah I thought that the combo would be good. I have my bachelors in psychology and right now I'm in the masters of social work program. I just started this fall. I was thinking of doing the accelerated BSN program next spring 2006 (If I can get in) and taking a leave of absence from my MSW program. Then after getting my BSN I was thinking of working as an RN while I finish up my MSW....

I was just wondering if having both would be good or a big waste!!
