new to allnurses

  1. Hi~
    I'm new to allnurses so I thought I'd stop in and introduce myself. I live in NC and I'm a new RN as of June. I work in a birth center and so far love it! I plan to start a Master's program in the near future to become a Nurse-Midwife. I look forward to getting to know some of y'all!!

    I'm new also and labor & delivery is my thing!!!! We sound like we have a lot in common "work wise" anyway... I am also a new RN (one year this month). I work in a small rural hospital so I wear a lot of hats but delivering babies is by far my favorite. I do plan to make a solid career in L & D someday, somehow!!!!!

    I started as an OB nurse - immediately after graduating. It was too much to grasp so I only stayed through probationary period. I would say 'orientation' but I had NO orientation - which is part of the reason - probably MOST of the reason I left.

    Hope your experience is better than mine. I wish I had a better orientation. I had always dreamed of being an OB nurse. I flushed it, and have never gotten to look back. Maybe in a few years - when I get my masters I will go back to that arena, but probably not until then. I'm in a stable job right now and I really like it.
    Residential home - non-state mandated and I also work as a sub school nurse. Both of them are extremely close to me (which means alot since I live out in the boonies - closest city is 45 minutes away) the residential home is less than 5 blocks from my house! I was thrilled when they made me DON
