My name is Jacque (Short for Jacqueline) but everyone calls me Jac or Jax. I'm 24 years old and working on my Pre-Req's for the nursing program in Colorado. (I'm not quite sure which school yet!) I've actually been working on my pre-req's for about a year, but I've been doing it two classes at a time since I work 70 hours a week otherwise. (My husband and I are Over-the-Road truck drivers, saving up to pay off our house and pay my tuition in full!)
I was about 3/4 through with my Computer Information degree when I switched to nursing. My "story" behind the switch is a pretty emotional one in my family.
18 months ago my perfectly healthy dad went to the doctor with pnuemonia symptoms. Or so he thought. Two weeks later when the antibiotic wasn't working he went to the hospital for tests where we got shocking news. My dad had apparently had several massive heart attacks over the previous years. He had no idea he'd even had a heart attack!
So in the past 18 months my dad had an LVAD (the heart mate) and a heart transplant. The nurses in the hospital helped to make this whole situation much easier on both my dad and my family. They were always so helpful and friendly, regardless that they had the most stressful job I had ever seen.
These people really inspired me to better myself.
