New Girl Here

  1. [font=Fixedsys]Hi all. I am new to all this, just happened to stumble upont this site, and thought it might help some.

[font=Fixedsys]A little about myself. I am 21, live in Ohio, and am in my first quarter for ADN. Feeling overwhelmed about now, and am not even in my third week. This is some intense stuff.

[font=Fixedsys]I have had 3 years of college, at Ohio State, but due to the waiting list in getting into their program, decided to go to a small community college to atleast start. So I have waited along time for this!

[font=Fixedsys]So if you guys have ANY advice or anything....please, let me know. Am willing to listen. I have made alot of friends already in the program, but one girl tends to be too negative....and she is the one that I hang out with the most so I have to boost myself up sometimes!

[font=Fixedsys]Hope to hear from you all soon, and will look forward to the next 7 quarters....if I can make it! :imbar

    Welcome, Beth

My first advice to you would be to lose the "negative girl". You'll start to think like her before long. Surround yourself with the students with the good grades and good study habits. Don't get to close to any one person b/c that will isolate you from the rest.

    J Lynn,
Yes, I know I need to drop her. Already she has caused more stressful then I usually have. Cause I am usually a pretty positive person. But, she is one of those types that wants to schedule the same classes, eat together, etc. Which I don't mind, but you know. I think if I can just get through Summer Qtr. cause then in Fall we have different schedules. But I know I need to do something about- thanks for the confirmation.

Hi Beth, I also just stumbled on to this site a couple days ago. You definitely need to lose the negative one! School is tough, you can definitely make it through when you surround your self w/ good support. There is DEFINITELY plenty to complain about in nursing school so get in w/ the people who are there to do a good job and study, I discovered this in my second semester and it helped profoundly! I have been out of school two years but i can still remember the best of luck Jen

Welcome Beth! I am with the others...drop the negative girl....It isn't going to help you at all to have her around. (hmmmmm....wish that was so easy with my negative dh! LOL!)

Welcome, Beth. I'm in the same boat as you, as I'm starting on my ADN now, too. I don't have just one negative person, but an entire unit full, as I work in a hospital currently, and most of my friends are nurses. I'm not sure why they discourage me, but I just blow it off. I know this is what I want to do.
