Just finished at 50

  1. Hi, my name is Peggy and I just graduated from a community college in California. I just turned 50 and believe it's never too late to achieve your goals and dreams. I don't know yet if I will meet any prejudice against my age. I'm going on my first interview in 3 days, so I'll let you know. I do feel that I shouldn't uncover my age during the interview...like avoid statements about my children being grown, or that I have grandchildren, or that I have 20 years experience as a caregiver...although I'm proud of all these things. It's seems odd that I should hide them but I think it's a reality that someone would choose a 25 year old graduate versus a 50 year old graduate. Anyway, I think the nursing shortage is in my favor and I'm sure the right job is out there for me.

Good Luck in your job hunt.

I haven't hired anyone less than age 50 as an RN in my depatment in the past year!
Even have the grandkids stop into our office to peak in at their "Ma Ma's" at work.

CEO was a LITTLE upset when a 32yo son brought in his new baby: a German Sheppard :imbar

Told my staff gonna apply for one of those Senior Employment Awards. Two RNs still doing perdiem at age 70.

A mind is a terrible thing to waist!
