I'm a former NICU nurse and am considering re-entry into clinical practice. Although I had 25 years of experience in NICUs in California and Kansas City, I left clinical practice 20 years ago when our daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor...she's a wonderful 30 year old now, with some disabilities caused by her disease and treatment, but is a lovely person whom we love. I worked in an ethics center for four years, helping nurses sort through the ethical issues in their practice, and currently I am a freelance writer for radiology magazines. I live in the Boston area now.
I miss nursing, and would like a chance to re-enter in a level 2 special needs nursery (I don't think I could do level 3 any more). I know things have changed dramatically over these years, because I write about electronic medical records, PACS, RIS, HIS, HIPAA regs, DICOM images, etc. I was the head nurse of the Stanford University Medical Center NICU years ago (when I was only three : ) and did life flight transport among other things in K.C.
If anyone can give me any information about refresher courses for pediatric nurses in the Boston area, I'd really appreciate it.
I'm glad to have found this forum, and look forward to visiting often.

Welcome to the site! It sounds like you have a very interesting background. A lot of times your state board of nursing will have information about nurse refresher courses. Have you checked with the BON in MA? Good luck to you!
