Introducing ME to you all.

    Hi I'm Jocelyn.
I'm a registered comprehensive nurse from New Zealand.
I am in my 50's and it has taken me 30yrs to become registered. I did my general nursing training in a hospital in the 1970's but did not pass the final exams to get registration, even tho I had passed all the rest of the yearly exams and the practicle. I then got married raised 3 kids, got a divorce and worked in Rest homes. In 1996 I decided if I wanted to retire at a level of comfort I wished to become accustomed to, I better go back to Polytech and get my Degree. So I did and in 2000 I graduated with 30 other nurses.
I got a job in a new graduate program run by my local hospital. I am now working on a 30 bed surgical ward. The main problems we look after are Gynea and Vascular but we have general surgery patients too and medical patients if the medical wards are full.
    I am a level 2 nurse working toward becoming a level 3.
I'm thinking very seriously on doing a Certificate in Public Health Nursing. I like the idea of working in the community and creating healthy lifestyle programs. I will eventually move to a country area and work in a rural clinic where the population is mainly over 65 and young familys.
I hope this has let you get to know a little about me.
Oh I forgot to tell you my other obsession in life. It is photography. If I could combine my nursing and photography I would have my dream job. It is so hard to get permission to take photos on the job. I understand all about privacy and how vunerable people are when they are sick but it is so cool when a patient turns the corner and recovers and their family and friends share not only their suffering but also their recover and I would love to capture that on film. I have seen some very sad situations but oh the joyous ones are to live for.

    Hi and welcome.
I met a RN on a a recent Cruise I took from New Zealand. She lives very rurally and has her own practise and also goes to clinics. What a beautiful country u live in. I would love to visit there someday.
