Information about a career in nursing.

  1. Hi everyone!

I'm new here. I have a BS in biology and I work in a lab. I'm looking into changing my career to nursing.

For all of you nurses out there, I wanted to know what you enjoy the most/least about your career. I also wanted to know if anyone knew the average salary for new nurses with a BSN?

I look forward to hear from you!

Hello and Welcome Tracy123 to AllNurses!
I can only speak for myself. I have been an RN for over 30 years, and I would do it all over again.
What I enjoy the most is....the patient contact and the wonderful, caring, professional people I have met and worked with over the years.
What I least like about the profession is....the continued debate over whether we should have BSN as entry level, and the lack of mandatory CE for RNs in NYS.
As for the average salary for RNs with BSN I think one of the nursing publications had something about that. Was it Advance for Nurses? Umm, okay check this site out....

But I am not sure when this data was compiled.
I was recently hired by the Veterans Administration Medical Center in New York City. Federal job. Pays according to grade and "steps".
    Again, welcome to All Nurses!

    Hi Tracy.

Simply, I like making a difference in people's lives.

Salaries vary depending on where you live. RNs here make in the 20's per hour depending on experience.

    Good luck to you.
