:imbar I'm sooooo embarassed....My real name is Wendy, I've worked as a nurse for 13 years in all aspects of nursing, I now work on Post Partum/ GYN surgeries.
I've become rather upset with the direction nursing is going:angryfire I feel like it's become more secretarial then hands on nursing. I realized this when the husband of one of my patients came out of the room and over to me and said." Your job must be changing quite a bit!" I said why? He said " Because I've noticed that you were in the room with my wife and daughter for about 15 minutes and you've been out here charting for about 45 minutes, and you don't seem like charting is what you got into nursing for." WOW:hatparty: This guy just opened up my eyes. Now I'm :angryfire and I want to change things.....Any ideas?

He's right, we didn't get into nursing to do paperwork. Unfortunately, they give us more and more. I've been involved in updating our nurses notes etc. We are trying to cut down on the pieces of paper involved, without throwing out the baby with the bathwater. In other words, keeping the same basic format, but eliminating the parts that really aren't necessary. We are trying to cut down on the amount of writing that we do.
Has it been a long time since your paperwork was revised?
