  1. My name is Lisa, and I live in Ga. I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello to all of you. I start my nursing program in April. I am really really excited. Can any of you tell me how to specialize in certain area's? I am very interested in Shock/trauma.

You have to attend a wide variety of clinical areas in nursing school. When you graduate and get your RN, then you can specialize. Many areas, such as ER require some floor experience first, depending on the hospital. But many take new grads into the ER trauma room right away.

For now just concentrate on school.

    Good luck and welcome.
