Funny, I was browsing the day's topics and it occured to me that I had never given my introduction to all of you.
My Name is Jacqueline, known by most as Jacquie, but a select few call me Jacq or Jacks. I have been a nurse for 7 years. I'm 38 years old.
Nursing has been my life. At the age of four, I was able to find the one woman (among over 100 guests) at my aunt's Christmas party who more than anything needed some one to hold. Being 4 at the time made me very holdable. She had recently lost her husband and this was her first social gathering without him. I hadn't even taken my coat off and I walked over to her, climbed up on her lap and gave her a big hug. She cried into my shoulder for a long time.
And so it began. I love people. I will do what I can to make them happy. Or comfortable.
I have worked different kinds of nursing from home care, teaching hospital, community hospital, isolated outpost health center, to retirement homes, nursing homes and agency nursing.
At the moment I am an agency nurse (5 years with the same company) and I teach in the clinical setting (Ortho). I have ADHD - without the hyperactivity, and a learning disability. Makes me a good teacher to have gone through academic nightmares. I love nursing and teaching. I am actually considering returning to school to get my BScN.
Oldest of three children, raised by my Dad. I was born bossy. I was 3 1/2 at the time my mother left (sister was 2, brother was 9 months old). Post partum psychosis from what I can gather. I developed a protectiveness for my siblings that was hard to let go. I just transfered it to my patients and to my students.
I was married, divorced and now have the man of my dreams as a partner for life
Born and raised in Canada. I've been to Florida, San Francisco and the Queen Charlotte Islands in British Columbia.
I love my life and the people and animals (3 cats) around me.
Thanks for welcoming me. I love this site and have recommended it to my students.
