Hi Everyone, New Here Love This Site!

  1. Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a 33 year old mom of two from Vermont. I currently run an at home daycare. I just applied to nursing school for this fall, so I'm still in the waiting stage.

I've been working in the childcare field since I was a kid myself. When I was a teenager I worked as a na (didn't have to be certified back then) and loved it - even though it was tough work! I also loved volunteering at a hospital.

Even though I was interested in nursing, my grades were horrible - my 10th grade teacher even laughed when I told her I wanted to be a nurse. So I decided to go into ECE instead since my interest in science really wasn't great.

Now I'm ready to get serious about nursing. I came to this site to try to get a realistic picture of nursing and read all of the horrible nasty stories and I thought - boy do I miss the medical field.

I'm still no science whiz, but this time I am motivated! I've already learned a lot from this board. I look forward to chatting with all of you.

    Welcome Deanna.
I'd say motivation is the main requirement to success in nursing school so good luck to you. I went to a Catholic nursing school in the 80's and it seemed like instructor's main objective was to run us off. We enrolled 85 and 3 years later graduated 26. Whatever you do, don't give up because it'll be worth it in the end. Nursing is a great career.
