That is great news, good luck. Can you give me so info as to how you got started ? I have been out of High School for 20 years, have no college credits and want to be a nurse sooooo bad. For the ASN program would i have to take courses first or can i just
take the Nursing Entrance Exam ? As you can see i need to do some more research.
It depends on what type of nursing school you want to go to. I have a BSN in nursing, which typically takes 4 years full time. An Associate's Degree in nursing takes 2 years full time. You can sit for your Registered Nurse license after that time. You can just go to the community colleges in your area to find out more information. In New York City, I didn't have to take a nursing school entrance exam so I don't know much about that. In my area, you just apply to a college (community or 4 year school) to get accepted.
If you really want to go I strongly encourage that you look into it. Many colleges and universities have websites, so you can just research them at home before you talk to an admissions counselor. If you think you can't go because of the money, always remember that there is financial aid, scholarships
and loans. I have tons of loans but I'd rather have loans than to continually work at the crappy jobs that I had before I finished nursing school. In NYC, the starting salary for new registered nurses in hospitals is about $62,000 on days and $67,000 on nights. I'm not sure what the salaries for nurses are in your area.
