Hello I am new and have some questions.

  1. Hello,
I am not a nurse but am thinking of going back to school to get an RN degree. I am married and 39 and have two grown children in college themselves. I also have a 6-year-old at home. I am currently a medical transcriptionist. My question is is it possible to do this and work full time and take care of the little one. Any info would be appreciated.

ANything is possible if u put your mind to it. Just know that it isnt going to be easy adn you will be exausted for the time you are in school. I work full time and have nursing school 4 days a week and that is without a kiddo, and I am tired. Hopefully you have a supportive spouce.

I agree. Anything is possible. It's going to be tough and demanding and there is going to have to be family help and sacrifices. Good luck.

A lot of the girls/women in my program have kids...1 decided to go back to school when her youngest started kindergarten - she had 4 kids altogether...when will your youngest start? We've got a lot of single moms to...they all do fine. For whatever reason, it's the students that already have a full plate that tend to do the best in class. I don't know what it is...somebody explained it to me once...something about how they already have the time management skills, or something.
You absolutely can do this...good luck!
