Hello from Florida :)

  1. My name is Christy, I'm 29, and I live in Florida. I've browsed allnurses a few times before, and now I've finally gotten around to joining.

<--- that little guy is too cute, btw.

Nursey stuff about me: Several years ago, I tried to do the college thing once before, but I was dismally lacking in self-discipline and maturity at the time. Now, ten years and a lot of growing up later, I have returned to school. It has been both terrifying and wonderful so far. I was sooooo nervous to go back, especially after having failed in the past. But I had a great first semester, so it put my confidence back on track a bit. The nerves are still a wee bit shaky here and there, though.

I'm currently in my second of four pre-nursing program semesters. Our program doesn't have any option to begin in a Spring semester, so I get an extra one... which is good, because I can work more, take it easy, and take all my co-requisites beforehand.

My ideas about what I would like to eventually do are: First, work at a local hospital for a year, maybe two. I used to want to do trauma/ER, but I've gotten more interested in neonatal or pediatric ICU. Second, do some travel nursing while I still can. Third, move out west and go back to school in either Oregon or Washington, to eventually specialize in *something*. CRNA, NP, Midwife, Nurse Educator... I dunno yet. Something, though.

Non-nursey stuff about me: I like to read... a lot. Unfortunately I don't have time for much pleasure reading now. I have a cat that steals my scrunchies and hides them, but I love him anyway. I'm living with my mom after having been on my own for ten years. It sucks, but it's free. I say "y'all" a LOT. I like crafts... painting stuff, tying knots in stuff, gluing stuff, cutting stuff, anything that's messy and pretty. I do something akin to playing the piano on occasion - usually when I'm in a bad mood. I love maps and atlases. I have withdrawals if I don't get enough chocolate. I adore smelly-good stuff - lotions, candles, perfume, room spray, anything. I have a huge crush on the Pacific Northwest.

And finally... I The Gators. (No, I don't go to UF, I'm just a good Floridian )

Looking forward to getting to know you guys! Have a lovely evening! (Or morning, whichever :spin

Welcome! The next few years will seem like it will take forever to go by. However, the time will fly by and you'll be graduating before you know it. Good luck and absorb everything you can. You will do great!

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys

Rette - yanno, it's funny. Sometimes it seems like it's flying past me at the speed of sound, and other times it seems like time is standing still. Strange feeling.
