considering nursing /insight please?

  1. Hello ! I am brand new to the forum. I am in Texas. I recently graduated with my MA in counseling and have found myself unhappy with that career path. There are few opportunities, getting licensed is a major PITA, the pay is low, and the majority of the jobs require bilingual.

The main thing I suppose is the profession for me is just too slow paced. I tend to get bored and need to be "busy". I knew about halfway through the program that it wasn't for me but I wasn't going to quit.

I am considering an RN program at a community college. I am very excited about it and think i would do well at nursing. I think it would be a good fit. I have several family members and friends who are nurses and seem to be happy.

I guess I am wondering how everyone likes their jobs..... I'm 27 , I could probably be finished by the time I am 30 since i have most of my basics.

Hi, welcome to the board! Since you alreadt have an MA you might consider a BSN since it would most likely take the same amount of time as an ADN, as you probably already have most of the pre-reqs for the BSN. Good luck!

The nearest BSN program is about 2 hrs. away. I have thought about doing an online RN -- BSN program !

The options in nursing are endless and you will never be bored. Burned out? Maybe. But when you find yourself getting burned out move to another option within nursing. That is the best part. Options.
