Anyone here from Oregon???

  1. My daughter recently married a guy from Oregon. They are both in the army now so we do have some time but she tells me after the are out they are moving to Oregon . ( We live in SC)

My daughter tells me she is ok with this because she wants us to move there with her. Meaning her father and I to relocate across the country .

Actually I am ok with this because I do not want my grandchildren on the other side of the country from me. I want to spoil them like I have obviously spoiled my daughter. :chuckle .

So what I would like to know are there any nurses here from Oregon? What is it like? Major hospitals? Cancer Centers? (that is my speciality) What is the weather like? Any little bit of info will do.
    Thank you

    Hello, and welcome!

I live in Albany, which is about halfway between Eugene and Salem. About 12 miles from here is Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, which does a lot of if you're interested, there are jobs there. Salem Hospital is also known for its oncology unit, and if you're looking for big-city life, Portland features a number of large hospitals, including Oregon Health and Science University.

Hope this is helpful. PM me if you'd like more details about our beautiful state. I should tell you, we're still in an economic slump here, but health care continues to be one of the "hot" fields, and wages are pretty good, especially when compared with other industries.

Hi Beckymcrn - I'm a true "Oregonian" - born & raised here and am getting the heck out of dodge after graduation from nursing school this June! I do love this State, but have a horrible time with our long, gray, very wet winters! I just accepted a new grad L&D position in the San Diego area. I know: traffic, high-cost of living... I've already heard it!! But it's a good trade for my situation. I am sad about my son not being raised here like me, but maybe someday I'll move back once I get lots of experience under my belt.

If you want specific information you can PM me and I'll be glad to answer any questions. I live in Eugene. It's a great college town, and almost everyone has webfeet! :chuckle
