A (not so) Quick Hello

  1. Hi everyone. My name is Carrie and I am not yet in nursing school. I worked in a medical clinic several years ago first as a receptionist and later as a medical assistant. I worked in Dermatology, Pediatrics, and finally Family Practice. I filled in in Neurology on occasion. The Dr. I was working with in family practice was training me to assist in minor surgery. For various reasons I left and after a quick stint as a receptionist I decided to stay home with my kids. Fast forward 11 years and I am now an Assistant Director at a preschool and a student at the local junior college. I hope to have all my prereq's for the ADN program finished by the Spring of '07. My ultimate goal is to be a Nurse Practitioner. After much debate between the BSN program of nursing and straight to the Physicians Assistant program, I have opted to get my ADN then bridge to MSN for Nurse Practitioner. Either way I have a ways to go. That's ok though. Meanwhile...I can work some and maybe get tuition assistance. I can't really say that I chose nursing...I feel chosen instead. It is simply a part of who I am. I can't imagine being fulfilled in any other profession outside of health care. I have not yet determnined what specialty I want. I think I will wait and see what appeals to me with some experience. I start a Dimensional Analysis class this coming Wed. and a terminiology class on Friday. Beginning the 17th I start Psychology and take a P.E. and Theatre Appreciation. Just finished A & P I, a math and English Comp I. So far I have a 3.4. No as good as I expected...but just getting back in the swing of things no too bad I think. I have read alot here and expect I'll be around. Perhaps more reading than writing...but I still wanted to post an official hello.
