A German Nurse In Halifax

  1. Hi everybody! My name is Anna (26) and Im a nurse from Germany. (sorry-my English is not perfect - yet ) Right now I live with my boyfriend in Halifax and I applied in Nova Scotia to become a Canadian nurse. Im so glad that I found allnurses - I hope to get to know Canadian nurses and also nurses from foreign countries - maybe with the same goal like me!

Last year I wrote the IELTS - Englishtest. I didnt pass it by 0,5 points. Has anyone some experiences with the Englishtests? I found the IELTS - test qiute difficult.
So, I am going to write another Enlishtest soon - and on the 8th of June I am going to write the CRNExam (hopefully :uhoh21: ).

I am still looking for a used book Canadian RN Exam Prep Guide 3rd Edition!!! (with cd-rom)

Welcome Anna - so glad that you're here in Canada. Now that you're been here for a while, perhaps the english as a second language test will be a little easier - and you've got the experience from the first one! If you're looking for the exam book, why not drop around the colleges in Halifax that teach nursing and put up a few notices. I think that the exam will be changing this year, so you might want to look into whether or not you will need a new exam prep book... just a thought. I wish you all the best, both in getting registered and in finding a good home here in Canada.

Hi IMUM - yes I work in an ER, but I'm on the other side of the country from you. I have nice memories of visits to Halifax, and I hope that you are enjoying the Bluenose country. Let me know how you make out with finding a copy of the crne book - sorry, but we have no nursing students in my er for me to ask... all the best!

Dalhousie is the only university in Halifax that teaches nursing. The nursing building is across from the University Avenue entrance of the IWK, and across the lawn from the medical library. If you go in the entrance across from the library go downstairs to the basement and there and lots of bulletin boards that are frequently checked by students and staff.
