48 and just starting nursing school

  1. Hi. I'm 48 and just starting nursing school. It will take me 3 years just to get my ASN. I already have a bachelors degree in something else. Do you think I will have trouble finding a job at my age and with only an ASN. I'm in excellent health and I jog and bike ride everyday if that will help. If anyone has advice, let me know. Thanks Patty

Welcome. There are a lot of us baby boomers out there in the market and your age won't hinder you.

Keep up your physical fitness because it's hard on the old body. LOL

WOOT WOOT!!!!!! Horray for us gutsy boomers who enter such a challenging program of study at this time in our lives. Good for you Patty - you are setting a wonderful example for others in our age bracket who may be tossing the idea around. Sometimes it takes a bit of chutzpa to make our dreams come true!!!!!

FYI, I will be age 47 in two weeks and am in my first semester of bsn program. WELCOME! ;-)

:groupwelcome: GOOD FOR YOU FOR GOING BACK. I know one lady who was 58 and started her LVN program last year. within 6 months of graduating, she made ADON at a local LTC. you will do great and you will succeed. Congratuations for making the decision and good luck in your future endeavors.
