Internships in NWA??

Hi Everyone!

My husband and I might be moving to NWA this Spring and I know very little about the area. I was wondering if any of the hospitals offer internships for graduate/new nurses and if not, what kind of training or work is available for the new nurse. I've been looking at the hospital websites and I haven't seen anything.

ANY advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated - even if it is just to comment on the hospitals themselves.

THANKS!!!

I don't know of any specific actual internship programs in NWA where they actually call it an internship.

Each facility takes their fair share of new grads, mainly into non critical care areas but you'll find a few that are willing to take you anywhere you want to go.

Most of the recruiters are good to deal with at each of the facilities in the area and are more than willing to answer your questions if you call and/or email them. I've never had one yet that wasn't willing to bend over backwards to answer my questions and I've talked to every facility in NWA at some point and time either during NS or during my 1st year as an RN.

Just pick the facility that is willing to train you the way you want to be trained and in an area you want to work. Make sure to ask lots of questions about the orienation process and the support you will have as a new nurse.

No sign on bonsus at any of the facilities that I know of, so if they start offering large amounts of $$$ for you to work there - you might want to reconsider. It's been my experience that the place(s) that offer the big sign on $$$ aren't all that great to work for.
