Which state is easiest to obtain Licence?

Hi, this is my situation.

I would like to obtain licensure by examination from any state that would be easiest for me.

Which state does not require the following?

CGFNS exam

Local board from origin country

English prof. test

I've gone to various board of nursing sites and found some but everyone I've seen requires some sort of english test.

yeah i thought about new mexico but when i checked with them, they said i can't get licensure by exam because i reside in virginia which is a "compact state." seems that if you live in a compact state, you cannot get licensure by exam from another compact state.. az is also not an option because it is compact state as well :(

maybe, it might help that you check saipan also. a number of filipinos have tried it. but, i think, saipan bon has no website nor email address. try looking for its phone number at the ncsbn website.

How about CA? It will take 4-6 mos though and I think you said you have a SSN via your K-1 visa. Mayne this will work for you. Just my humble opinion.

I might go through Cali.. Yes I will have SSN. 4-6 months is long but how much longer is that compared to other states?

Other states takes considerably less but you're limited to those states that doesn't require the req'ts you lack.

I wouldn't also advice on CA for initial licensure but then again, you may not have much choice for your case. Maybe you can check some more states like what kiko said.

it's in northern mariana islands, a us territory.

for more info and if interested, you need this site and thou shall find:

Ok I think I've made my decision I will go through NY state board.

My question now is, I'm still in the Philippines until november.

Is it too early to order the CVS? Can I do it here while I'm still in the Philippines? Is there anything else I can do while I'm still here to get things moving along faster?

I just graduated last week. Thanks.

Just download the CVS from CGFNS' website and the NYSED application forms from NYSED's website as well and apply and send it ASAP. Paying via credit card may give a slight advantage. Goodluck. ;)

Is it ok to order the CVS this early? I will be in the states by November so I want to make sure there is no problem by doing early like this.

After I get the CVS, then just submit the application to the NY board correct? Is this when I wait to sit for the NCLEX?

These are 2 seperate applications. 1 is the CVS for NY w/c can be downloaded from http://www.cgfns.org. Fill it up and send to CGFNS (together w/ payment). $275 The complete instructions are in the website too. 2nd is the application form for NYSED. http://www.ncsbn.org. Look for NY. Fill it up and send back to NYSED (w/ payment) $135 i think. plus 1 form there needs to be notarized. COmplete instructions are in there to.

That's it. Goodluck. :p

Should I apply for both cvs and nysed as well now? The reason I ask this is because I read somewhere that once the board allows you to sit for the NCLEX they give you an ATT? And the ATT expires after a certain time correct? I don't want to apply too early and then can't take nclex because of that.

If I were you yes (But that's just me). For NY I think you have to take it w/in 90 days after being eligible. But being eligible for NY also takes some months. There seems to be no definite time-line but for the sake of argument let's just say more or less 4 mos. I think you have more than enough time to study for the nclex while waiting for approval. Plus, usually you have to wait for at least a month to be able to look for an open slot for the exam (depending on the availability of the test center). Expect test center to be full for at least the current month. Believe me, you'll have lots of time in-between to study.

Well the reason I picked NY over CA is I thought NY had faster processing time than CA but if NY takes 4 months isn't that same as CA? I'll have a SSN within weeks of arrival to the states so I don't mind that CA won't issue a hard license until I have that SSN since I'll have it soon anyway.

So if I were to apply through California wouldn't that be better since the cost is less as well and the time frame is similar to NY?
