hi i also am reviewing at pentagon (main) every weekends since july, just wanted to share that even though they are in the midst of controversy, i still trust and believe in pentagon. just like you, you went all the way to manila just to review here. well pentagays really have the skill and talent to help make the students understand and memorize pertinent info. i have attended other review centers and i have noticed that pentagays are really good.. as we all know all the "yada yada yada" in the so called "leakage" issue last june i will still stand by my choice of choosing pentagon in helping me to pass my local board this december.. of course i know there are lot of nuses who also trusted pentagon during their locals and/or for CG and NCLEX, and for sure they are in the states and in other part of the world; hence its nice to see a post reply from them..

If you have no plans to work in the Phils. and your choice of State does not require CGFNS Certification (CGFNS Exam) I would suggest that you just apply to the State BON you want and sit for the NCLEX directly.

You only need to make a letter of explanation that you don't have a license because you have no plans in working as a RN in the Philippines.

Many have done this already. Local license is not needed to be able to sit for the NCLEX.

    Just my two cents.

thanks lawrence for providing much needed info to pinoy RNs. Yes, they can try Florida (like me), chicago, NJ (since july 2006), etc... they just need CES to sit for nclex. However, immigration would require you to have a license from your country of origin before you can apply for a Visa Screen, then for an EAD and finally for a green card. So its important to have those too.... Even if you passed the NCLEX, you still need the visa screen (who requires philippine RN license) in order for you to apply for an EAD (employment authorization document) and work legally in US.
So fellow pinoy RNs, have your license first before coming here (to avoid future problems)... Hope this info will help. we wish you guys goodluck, and we hope to see you here....

not sure where in the world that you are getting your information from, but it is not correct. visa screen requires that you pass either the nclex-rn exam or the cgfns exam, there is no place that says that it is required. to write the cgfns exam, you need a local license, but there are only handful of states that require the cgfns exam, and i mean handful, five or less.

you do not need a local license to get a visa screen certificate................there is not one place that states that it is required, only if you do have a license that you record it.

please take the time to actually verify something before posting it. and there are thousands of filipino nurses in the us that are working legally here that never took the nle. how do you explain that?

And not all states require the CES either. There are some that do their own credentials evaluation such as CA, or NY requires the CVS and only will accept that.

Pleae take the time to get your facts correct.

If you are in the Philippines, you do not get the EAD, you go thru Consular Processing. The EAD is only available if you are in the US and going the route of the AOS. And that is no longer a viable option for those born in the Philippines as the visas will no longer be current in the next few days or so. USCIS does not give advance warning, will only make a posting when they are gone, the day that they are gone.

I guess I made you jump to retaliate on my inaccurate post, after reviewing the visa screeen reqmnts, by answering in big colored fonts. I dont blame you since you are the one being bombarded by thousands of PMs. You don't know this but you have helped a lot before about the nclex process thru ur postings here in allnurses.com.

To the group.... I just posted an inaccurate post about philippine local license as a requirement of VISA SCREEN. You might still get a visa screen without it (vscreen FAQ). I just got confuse about it, because thats how I did it. I'm so sorry!! .Maybe the moderators can just delete it so it wont cause any confusion.

But suzzane4, how are they going to fit into Schedule A Visa for Nurses if they dont have a local license from country of origin? http://www.immspec.com/schedule-a.htm
If their visa screen will say that they are not licensed from country of origin, will that cause any problem in their application in the long run? Im just curious...

    Thanks

Schedule A visas are gone................but the requirement is a completed set of transcripts, not a license. There are countries that do not even have licenses, your diploma is the license.

There are thousands in the US that did not take a local exam in their country, and they have no issues. The US government does not require it. CGFNS does when the nurse is required to sit for the CGFNS exam, and there are only about five states left that do require the exam. All of the others have changed over to the CES, which does not require the local license..........and some have no requirement at all, they do their own evaluation.
