How much choice do you really get picking your location when you go with a US agency? I realise agencies have contracts with specific hospitals and usually in areas where there is a shortage of nurses which they will push you to. However, if you already know you want to work in a specific place, in a specific state; what are your options?
Has anyone ever managed to bypass the nursing agency route and secured a work visa/job offer independently (and they weren't already in the US)?
Also, what has been people's experiences of getting job offers in the specialty that they've been working in? Obviously for areas like CCU, ICU etc it's not an issue. However, I'm not in a clinical nursing job at the moment and my last clinical nursing job was in the community as a practice nurse so i'd be interested to find out!
