You are new here, please take the time to do some reading on the forums. Why in the world would you want to attend that review center, which was at the center of more than 17,000 nurses having issues with being able to work in the US? They are known for cheating on all of the exams, why would you want to associate yourself with that?

I am glad that you do not have the money to attend there.

He is good, in fact, he was a batchmate of a colleage of mine in the facility where I work. The thing is his review center was involved in a scandal under investigation and it is one reason why you should stay away from.

Suzanne is from the US, I met her once, she invited and took me and my family to a dinner in Italian restaurant which is our first here.

Not from the Philippines, and have never been there. But Mr. G has been at the center of countless articles over here in the Filipino papers for his unscrupulous methods of teaching, such as acquiring questions and answers before the exam. There are hospitals here in the US that are now asking where the nurse trained at and which review center, and if his name comes up, they have refused to hire the nurse.

If it is known that cheating goes on with the exams in his centers, why would you wish to be associated with that in the first place?

He also does not hold a license in the US and the three states that he has told his students that he has licenses in, nothing has ever existed in those states for him.

yes, gapuz review center is very famous in the philippines. i think as well as to the other parts of the world due to the alleged controversy with him and the center right now. a lot of filipino nursing students and registered nurses like to attend his review because they have a good passing percentage.

i remember a colleague of mine when we took our cgfns exam here in the philippines. she told me that there was like 5 questions in the exam that they have actually reviewed during their close door review the night before the cgfns exam. exactly the same questions with the same choices of answers i think even the arrangement of the options.

well, now i wonder... i might be coincidental or it may be really cheating....

dont have anything against gapuz. but good thing i didnt get tempted of attending his reveiws just to pass the exams..... :innerconf

yep udan is good... it's like a cram version of ms. aside udan, sia's book is also ok... during my time what i did was, read all books i can til morning til i sleep... esp. of doh, try imci, because those 2 are philippine setting... then more on ms... try also carl balita's reviewer... gudluck! :)

It's better if you do self-review. You'll be able to review at your own pace, and with a lot more content than if you'll enroll in a review center. I enrolled in a review center in June. Unfortunately (and fortunately, too!) I did not pass the NLE. I'm not blaming enrolling in a review center vs. reviewing but when I self-reviewed for the December NLE, I realized there is much much more to learn when you are studying by yourself.

very well 'said', cherrycoke! when you self review, you get to plan your own schedule, you can sleep, relax, watch tv for an hour or so, and never tire yourself whn you feel that your brain can't get well of what you're reading anymore. you won't force yourself too much, you save the review fees, the daily fare- - in short, you are in control. the thing is, you just have to be very disciplined, since you study on your own you might tend to be lax, since there's no authority to be followed, just you, yourself, and you alone. hope this helps, goodluck & Godbless!

if you want to invest in books, it would be best if you can still use them in the next phase of your nursing career.

we had a frenzy back then with regards to getting our hands on review materials. recommendations were high up on our list. but our books ended up in their pristine condition - didn't have time to read them anymore. this happened to some review materials like the NSNA comprehensive review & the sia books (sia - mostly relevant for NLE review. gave them away after passing NLE).

for MS, psychia, get hold of any book that you like reading, sort of a reference in case you need to clarify some concepts. Some review materials give you lists but they do not provide you explanations, the relationships of concepts and the whys. You end up memorizing. I find the Lipincott Manual of Nursing Practice a good buy.

I have the anatomy book of marieb. ever useful. for funda, udan is concise and informative enough for me.

i have now 2 of the Lipincott review series. good material. they offer MS, psychia, MCN, pedia, etc. but i found them useful now that i am studying for nclex. too bad i did not get them when reviewing for my NLE.

thanks so much for all your help! ill be going to prc tommorow to buy my books. i still don't know if I'll enroll in a review center or not. i just want to pass the local board for now.. one step at a time. :specs:
