For foreign students of nursing (Russian, Ukrainian)

Hi, I am from Ukraine.

I am going to pass NCLEX in CA. I was graduated in Ukraine. I am looking for foreign nurses. I have a lot of questions about paper work before test . Is anybody here?

Help me , please.

Hello,

To OP: I am really sorry, but I can' t give you any advice. I graduated in Romania and I took my NCLEX in another state, so, I am not familiar with CA requirements. However, I know that for any state you have to pass the English exam (Toefl or Ielts) and for me this was more time-consuming and stressful than NCLEX (I passed Toefl).

To carmenmagda 2003 and ablez 76: I am so happy to see that there are some romanian nurses here. I passed the NCLEX last March and I have 14 years experience in Romania (ED and OR). Since I' ve got my license, I have been applying for a job in the US. Well, I know that it is hard even for citizens, I know it is recession, and I will persevere. But, is it possible that nothing from my experience to be recognized here because it' s from my country ? I am shocked to hear this !!

Since this is the situation in the US, I was thinking of getting my license in the UK. I know that I have to meet their requirements first. But, please, carmenmagda, can you tell me more details about nursing in the UK ? I mean, compared to that from Romania. How much time did it take to get the license there (in your case, of course) and how would be the chances of finding a job there with my experience ? I see that you want to pass NCLEX. Ask me whatever you want about it and I will try to help you. The NCLEX section of this forum was helpful for me, indeed, but you still need to study hard by yourself (this was my case).

I am not allowed to send PMs. But, if you can, please, do not hesitate to contact me (both of you). I hope you can answer some of my questions. Thanks. I wish you all the best.

Well, and sorry, OP. We have met here because of you, but I hope that people more knowledgeble than me will answer you. Good luck.

Hi!

We are getting more and more of us! That's very nice to know...

I will have to write to you more in detail later, because I am going out now. But like with ablez, I would prefer to give you the information on a private address. Write to me at [email protected]

See you later!

Hi Ro67

I am so glad to see people from my country. We are few right now but I hope in the future we can reach a higher number. I'm so sorry to hear the same problem as mine. I passed my NCLEX last november and since then I couldn't find any job in entire NY State . So you don't have to be desperate you still new in looking for jobs. I got answers from hospitals even after 2 months that I'm not qualified for positions. As you mentioned my experience it's not recognized even with my previous experience in our country. By the way in which state are residing? What is your status? I would like to know more about you.

Have you tried recruiting companies to find a job?

Hi ablez76,

Well...our situation is rather different, I guess. I need to find an employer to sponsor me for visa...and this seems to be a dream right now. I didn' t say that my experience is not recognized at all. I was just shocked to hear you saying this. Anyway...actually, some employers did call me right after I' ve sent my application, because of my experience. But...when they' ve heard that I need visa sponsorship, they said that they cannot help me now. Sooo...I understand that you don' t have the same problem, right ?!

I have also tried recruiting agencies, but they either told me that it is a bad time for a IEN to come to USA, or didn' t respond at all. So, here I am. If I knew that this is the situation, I would have never started this long process...

I would also like to speak more with you, but I am not allowed yet to send private messages. And, posting here more details about me...I am not quite sure it' s a good idea. However, I see that you have more than 15 posts, so you may try to send me a PM with your email address and then we' ll take it from there. Until then, I wish you good luck.

Hi Ro67

I'm so sorry to hear that you need sponsorship because these days as you mentioned it's very difficult to find such kind of help. But at least you have been contacted from hospitals and I'm sure you will find one to sponsor you. Don't give up. You worked hard to pass those exams. I have an advise to you if can't find any sponsor you can apply to USA army and you can be a part of army and you can get citizenship after three months. If you are interested you can find more information on their web site. Good luck.

You didn't mentioned which state license you have?

My case is different unfortunately having green card and NY-RN license with 3 years medical surgical experience haven't helped me and I couldn't find any hospital to even call me for an interview. I applied even for nursing homes nothing came up. I really got desperate and hopeless. Maybe because I'm in NY I don't know what else to say I have no other explanation than that.
