Endorsing to Virginia from CA BRN

  1. hello guys i'm a registered Rn from the Philippines and i'm also new here:-) i have a question for the California nurses though.. my friend applied for california BON for his NCLEX-RN exam, but he's planning to work in virginia, USA.. he applied in California BON because they said that the license can be endorsed in many states possible if u are an nclex passer in this state (CALIfornia).. his problem now is that, is it true that he has to work/stay there in california for atleast 1-2 yrs to be able to get his permanent license and endorse it to virginia??? or can he endorse his temporary license in virginia immediately after passing his nclex-rn in california???

If you pass NCLEX with one state it can be endorsed to all other states. The problem with our friend is he can't endorse his CA license as he urrently does not have a license as they will not issue one without a SSN number which he can't get until he is in the US with a valid work visa. He does not need to work in the state for 1-2 years he can apply to Virginia BON but will have to meet their requirements of foreign trained nurse. He will also require CA to send confirmation of passing NCLEX. Would suggest doing a search as Suzanne has explained this process from CA to another state a few times
