Contact hours

  1. I'm sure there is a sticky somewhere but I just can't find it and I've looked up CGFNS and NCLEX websites and Massachusetts BoN and just can't find it.

I just recieved a copy of my transcripts and want to know how many hours I'm going to need to make up. this is what the report has:

    Theory, Clinical Practice,

    Medical, 387.5, 560.5
    surgical , 347.5, 543.5
    maternal/infant, 40, nil
    paeds, 40, 90
    mental health, 40, 180
    community, 40, 90
    emergency med, 540
    reflective practice, 309
    anatomy+physiology, 180,
    social sciences, 495,

    Hi Jaynie
Minimum hours in the following are needed (Theory, followed by clinical hours)

    Paediatrics30-40,40-80
    Obstetrics (excluding gynaecology)30-40,40-80
    Psychiatry30-40,40-80
these hours are in addition to the usual medical, surgical and community hours that all nursing programs include. So it looks like you are going to have to make up obstetric clinical hours.
Each US Board of Nursing has slightly differing requirements and depending on your training, there maybe some states within the U.S.A. that you will not be able to work in.
    Hope it helps.

Yes you will have to make up maternity hours for sure. Maybe your nearest university with a nursing program can help?
