Attending D'youville NP program from Canada (Please Help!)

Hello Allnurses!

I recently finished Masters in Canada. I live in Toronto and recently got an admission letter from D'youville College NP (Post Masters) program. It's all exciting! I was very happy when I got the letter. Lots of Canadian students go to D'youville College, as it's right at the border (Buffalo).

I'm a bit confused now. I've been trying so hard to figure out if I can take an NP exam in Canada and become an NP in Canada after I graduate D'youville College.

I called CNO (College of nurses of Ontario) to see if they accept D'youville college as one of the eligible school for the licence. CNO said, they assess each applications and decide their eligibility for the test based on the applications. CNO couldn't tell me if D'youville graduates passed the process. They said, they don't provide this info to public.

I also called D'youville College. D'youville College said that they cannot give me the answer but they believe their graduates are working as NPs in Canada. I asked, if CNO doesn't pass my application, would I be able to take the test in the States? They answered that if I want to apply for Canadian NP program, I have to take practicum in Canada. If I want to apply for US NP program, then I have to do my clinical practicum in the states.

I feel very lost. I certainly don't want to invest my tuition, energy, and time, if I cannot practice as an NP in Canada. It's lots of money and lots of stress.

I wonder, is there any NPs in Canada who graduated from D'youville College? Would you please give me some info and advice about it? Any info would be so helpful and greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much in advance. Have a good day!

If you take the canadian program you would think that would open you up to the test for the licance?!? Other wise why would they offer it??

If your skeptical try getting into a canadian school insted.

Hi,

Jafnar
