H ello all
I'm going to be entering my 4th year of my BSCN and have realized that I truly need to better my assessment skills. I was lying in bed a few weeks ago and got a wave of anxiety when I realized that in a year I will be expected to be proficient in this area. I am most definitely not a lazy student. I have good grades and also mentor first and second year students in our skills lab.
With regards to assessments, I just can't seem to put it all together yet. In clinical, I often finish my morning assessment and then when charting realize I left out an entire system. I'm going to be in my 4th year and I should know this stuff. Does anyone have any tips on honing this most important skill? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am considering starting a "fight club esque" assessment club this year at school where interested students can work together to increase skills.
Thanks in advance

It just takes practice and experience. If you see/hear/feel enough abnormals, you'll get a lot better at detecting them.

Try to be systematic and stick to it, ABC approach is very useful.
