hi all, i cannot utilise the livescan finger print service as i live in australia, does anyone know how long it takes for the finger print card to come once i have requested it? or another way to get it a bit quicker - download form maybe?

i am trying to reduce my application waiting time as much as possible as i fear i may have to do extra clinical.

thanks for your help!

Please get patient. I am in Cali. It is printed on our applications that the Livescan process is faster. It does not matter. There are all kinds of possible delays. In time, it will happen.

If you are not afforded Livescan as an option, there is absolutely nothing you can do to speed up the process. Sorry.

pedar72,

if you are really keen on getting to the US to work ASAP, i suggest you enrol VERY SOON to the professional development unit, school of nursing, deakin university in victoria. You WILL need to have theory and clinical hours in paeds and maternity nursing(as per Suzanne's reply). as mentioned, i have done this. the courses are external. i highly doubt anyone will take you on if you do not meet the ed'n requirements. just go and register NOW so that you can possibly get in to the first semester beginning soon. if you have to get to the states soon, i highly doubt you'll be nursing, as it is a lengthy process. nothing like the UK or Ireland!!!

give them a call today!

In the UK now it is a lengthy process as lots of hoops to jump through plus changes with immigration has made it harder for nurses outside the EU get jobs

Sure you can, but it still will not make things any faster for you. Do you know for a fact that you have enough hours in the required areas? If not, you would be further ahead to get those done instead of waiting for the BRN to tell you to make them up.

California still takes the longest to give approval and you will also be waiting four weeks to get your results since you do not have a SSN#. If you are in a hurry, initial licensure in CA is definitely not the way to go. Much easier just to endorse to them afterwards.
