International College of Health Sciences

Updated:   Published

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here and hopefully I'm posting this in the right area. I'm currently an LVN in Ca and looking into a 1 year LVN-RN on-line program based out of Fl. The name of the school is called International College of Health Sciences based out of Boyton Beach, Fl. I was just wondering if anyone here has had some experiences in dealing with this school, currently attending, or could provide any insight into the program. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I personally know at least five students who are already RN here in California. They took the exam here and just endorsed their papers when they pass NCLEX-RN. I am on capstone now. I can’t believe it. I am very thankful for the school. About the learning? It depends upon what kind of learner are you. If you are the the of student that need coaching. Nope this school is not for you but if you can navigate on your own with a little guidance. Yes.

What does capstone consist of? A project?

Are you a LVN before the RN program ?  I think it’s hard for someone without health care background

Specializes in LPN.

That's great that you personally know of people who have successfully completed the program and became licensed in your area. I wish I had that. That is definitely reassuring.

I am self motivated and I think I would be okay with the schooling itself.

Have you had to fly to Florida for clinicals?

Is Capstone the last step in the program?

Thank you for your feedback!

Whitney

Yes, Capstone is the last step. We are doing a 4day live review with the NCLEX specialist now before taking our exit exam next month. I only went to FL once due to Covid. My friend got lucky she only went to FL once and got her RN license, due to covid our school offered an accelerated deal program last semester and if you pass you will skip the med surg 2 and can challenge the exit exam. She passed and also passed her NCLEX-RN. I am so happy for her. She is now a licensed RN here in California.

Don’t beat yourself if you are not an LVN/LPN believe me there’s so many LVN/LPn who also struggled in nursing school. I am not an LVN. I don’t have a medical background nor work in any medical area. You can do it! I can do it! We can all do it!

By the way, the accelerated program was one time shot only. They only offered last semester due to Covid-19.

Congrats to you almost at the finish line. You will be right there with your friend. I can feel your excitement through these chats best of luck to you on your exit exam as well.

Thank you for your advice and encouragement!  I am glad that you can speed up the program faster to bypass med surg2.  Did you take a test to bypass it? You said you and your friend went to clinical once. How many days was it?  Will you able to meet CA clinical hours requirement?

As for my group, we are not allowed to take NCLEX-RN if we don’t do 50% of direct ptient care which is the minimum requirement here in CAli due to COVID-19. So we must do another clinical in FL. But due to COVID-19, no clinical schedule is allowed so we have to wait.

No I didn’t take the exam cause they only offered it to the students who are about to take or was taking med surg 2. I was still on med surg 1 that time.

We went to FL once for two weeks only. I still need to do more clinical hours maybe another additional 3 weeks then I would say I would complete the CA minimum clinical hours if completed.

I got more confidence about this program after talking to you.  Good luck on your NCLEX. ??
