Interested in going back to college for nursing: Question on ACNP

Published

Hi, quick intro.I graduated college with a degree in police administration. I have been involved with EMS for a year. I am in the process of testing for my EMT B certification. I am looking to go forward and go for my Advanced EMT with ACLS and PALS cert to work per diem with the hospital. I am also starting a job with the hospital as a anesthesioligist technician.

I am interested in working in the healthcare setting. The two big fields considering are nursing and physician assistant. I was looking into acute care nurse practitioner. The career Outlook looks to encompass what is involved in EMS and take it a step further. Work with challenging and variety of situations. However, only issue is I have no desire or goal to go for a doctorate degree. Is there ways to be involved as a nurse in acute care practice as a nurse without going for your doctorate degree?

Second as a physician assistant could jobs or is it possible to work for air medical unit instead as a nurse. Do you believe much of a difference? Pros or cons?

Appreciate the response.
