Initial TN LPN license, school in FL

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

Hello everyone

I completed a practical nursing program in Florida in May and moved to Tennessee with my husband the next week (military ). My question is: is there any alternative way to get licensed other than to send all of my information between Florida and Tennessee? I was wondering if I could show a copy of my diploma and that would be sufficient. I received my application and filled out my portion, got the application notarized, and sent it to my college in FL for the director to complete certifying that I indeed completed the program. The application made it to the college, yet no one knows where it is in the nursing department. I just requested another application today from the board and seriously considering getting on a plane to hand deliver it to my college instead of mailing it again (that's ridiculous, I know). Any suggestions on what I should do?

Did you take the NCLEX-PN ?

No I have not taken it yet. I'm still waiting for the Board of Nursing to send me my ATT. What all did you have to do to get licensed once you completed your program?

  1. The only option is to apply for license by exam and ATT with the Tennessee Boardof Nursing.

I am not certain what that application process involves. Your best bet is to contact the Tennessee Board of Nursing.

Graduating in one state and applying for a license in another is quite common.

Good luck with that! I have needed a replacement copy of my TN license. I FINALLY found a form online requesting it, attached my picture and all relevant info, had it notarized like it requested, and sent it in in March. I got a reply the end of June saying that my picture was not adequate. Three months. They do not get in any hurry. :banghead:
