I just took the HESI exam this morning and I was not able to find a lot of information on how everything was set up so I wanted to write down what I saw to maybe help others that are about to take the exam.
1. Your 4 hour timer starts when you login in to your computer station, it does not include breaks so if you take a break your 4 hours will still be counting down.
2. When I checked in there was some pretty basic security checks for aids and cameras on your person nothing to worry about.
3. Scratch paper: I don't know if this was just my testing centers practices, but instead of paper i was given 2 laminated pieces of paper with a grid on them and 2 dry erase markers and not paper and pencils ( which is my preference when taking an exam).
4. Your exams are automatically graded once you finish them, the score is shown next to the topic of the exam. At the end of the exam you can see your overall score when you click a button at the end of the exam.
5. There are 2 "exams" that see what kind of learner or person you are, these do not affect your score.
6. You can not go back to previous questions! I did not realize this until 10 questions into my first exam.
7. You can take the 5 or so subjects in what ever order you wish.
I did not take any breaks because I wanted to make sure I had enough time to get through all the questions, one other thing I could not find was how many question each exam had, one website made it seem that I would have 30 mins or something for 30 math questions, so I was a little thrown when I figured out that there is no timer for the exam sections.
8. I did a few online practice exams they didn't really hold true for what was on the exam except in the math section. The practice exams were way easier then the actual test.
I hope this helps anyone prepping for the exam
