I am not an infectious disease nurse, but have heard of late that there have been septic and wound pts placed on an OB floor. The hospital is small and need to know the repercussions and some resources to stop the placement of these pts on this floor, unless I am incorrect in my assumptions. I am old school and you never would place this type of pt on a floor with babies. With the advent of Universal precautions, is this now something small hospitals can do? It just doesn't sit well with me and makes me anxious. Please inform me and arm me with resources so I can prove either to staff or to management, which way this goes now days. Thanks for help, in advance.
