Hello new grads/nurses!
I am very excited to announce that I have been offered a full time days staff RN position at a hospital in downtown Indianapolis. They offered $22.50/HR and have great benefits. My question is:
I interned at this hospital for a semester prior to graduating and they understand that I know how to use the EMR, and that I know how to handle this job. Is this good enough grounds for negotiating a higher salary?
Other posts say: DO NOT NEGOTIATE IF YOURE A NEW GRAD, IT IS PROFESSIONAL SUICIDE!!
A few posts say: go for it! KNOW YOUR WORTH, you have nothing to lose
I can't find any threads that offer advice for "intern experience" new grad nurse positions. I also have another offer from a long term care facility for $24/Hr that some non-nursing/non-health care peers are suggesting that I use the competitive offer to negotiate.
ANY TIPS WOULD HELP!! THANKS!

I bet if you look a little deeper, there is incentive pay for evenings, nights, and weekends. Your base pay is 22.50 an hour, a guarantee that you will receive at least that much for an hour of work. That's the least amount you'll be paid.
I know you'll probably be as flabbergasted as any new nurse when you start your first position. Accept the pay for your first year, and negotiate after you've put in that first year. Best of luck to you, and congrats on getting your first job!
