Anyone have any information on Ancilla college nursing program? I am currently at Ivy Tech and tired of waiting in limbo and the constant changes to the curriculum. I do know I will have to take something called HESI instead of the TEAS.

I only need the transition part of the program, so commuting 90 mins to and from the school for a year will be doable.

The cost per credit hr is about 4 times as much as ivy tech, but no waiting list. It is not one of those schools for profit. It is a private, catholic, accredited college. I would love to hear from someone who goes to the school on how is the school, instructors, is the school high quality/justify tuition rate, and any information on the nursing program. Also I will have to take intro chemistry 5 credit hrs. any information on this class -my least favorite subject. I was going to take it at ivy tech and was told this would not transfer because it is 3 credit hrs.

Thanks

Hello Hawaii Sun!

I am the Director of the Nursing Program @ Ancilla College. The best advice I can give you about our program is that once you have been admitted into the nursing program, our intent is to do our best to help you through the program to become an RN. We have qualified instructors who care about your success, we have free tutor oppotunities in the basic subjects and even a nurse tutor at no cost. Nursing is NOT an easy subject or profession, however if you are dedicated, hard working and determined you can succeed. I would welcome a telephone call or e-mail with any questions you may have regarding the program. All information regarding the program may be found on our website: www.ancilla.edu Thank you for considering Ancilla College Nursing!! Ann Fitzgerald :nurse:

DON'T DO IT!!!! My cousin went to ancilla - their program is absolutely awful!! You can go through the whole program with an almost 4.0 GPA and then they fail you - they do not prepare their students for the NCLEX or the Hesi exit exams that they insist you take, but they'll take your money and run!!! They barely pass 3-4 students each year, check complaints at the board of nursing! Local hospital staff will tell you, Ancilla nurses are not prepared!! They would much rather hire an IVY Tech or Bethel grad than an ancilla one. And at over $400 per credit hour compared to Ivy Tech at $100 per credit hour you think they'd at least TRY to teach you what you need to know to practice efficiently, but they don't really even care as long as they get your money.... BE WARNED!

I agree, DON'T DO IT! There are way too many people who could tell you the things that go wrong while going through the nursing program at Ancilla. The instructors lose important documents that are counted towards your GPA, causing you to fail the course. Lost documents can not prove the student has failed. So why do you want to spend $5600 and one semester so an incompetent instructor can fail you for missing questions on tests the instructor doesn't even have the right answers for key to the test? The instructors do not work well together. For example, if some instructors do not like a co-instructor, they conspire against the one they dont like and will do what ever it takes to get the co-instructor fired or make the work place so miserable the person will want to quit. I thought nurses were caring people? Not those nursing instructors! You should talk to more people before you make a choice of education. There are quite a few students who are doing prerequisite classes at Ancilla then transferring to other schools for the nursing program. I wish you well in your journey.

I went to Ancilla College for nursing. I would highly recommend going to this college for any degree. I enjoyed the experience there. The classes are small and the instructors know you by name and not the last 4 of your social. Really would like them to get a bsn program!

I agree don't do it hopefully you have graduated at this point. I was a recent student worse Nursing Program Ever, I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.
