I'm currently going to SAC;however, in another few semesters I'll be ready to transfer on. I'm just not sure where I should go. Incarnate Word or UT. I am going for my bachelors of nursing. I like the smaller teacher to student ratio at Incarnate Word, but I have heard some talk that their students don't come to the floor as prepared as the UT students. Can anyone help me? - Thanks

I'm glad to hear that. I know both of the schools are excellent I'm just scared of making the wrong decision. Ugh! School can be scary.

I graduated from UIW and am very pleased at how well they prepared me. I think that the small student to teacher ratio is vital to many of us being so successful. They know your name and are really there to help you. There are some wonderful teachers there. Not to talk down about UT, I think they are a very good school, but I was told we have much more clinical experience than UT. Many hospitals said they would hire a UIW grad over a UT grad any day. Nonetheless, I have met great nurses who are UT grads. Just my 2 cents.

I am going to SAC also. I am getting close to wrapping up the prerequisites, too. It is my understanding that both are good programs, UT requires a few less prerequisites. Good luck

UTHSCSA is a lot cheaper that UIW; When you make too much to qualify for financial aid, you go with the cheaper one. My entire cost for 2 years at the HSC would pay for about a semester and a half at UIW. We must have done some things right with our clinicals, as I was hired into the ICU I had clinicals on in my last semester...
I was concerned about the cost as well. I do make a lot more money than most college students. I work for a corporate travel agency though, nothing to do with nursing. I was considering changing to something in the medical field; however, I make so much more than I would if I were to do that. Kinda sucks that I'm stuck, but hey it helps pay the bills. I am trying to get my GPA up as high as possible in hopes of scholarships and then as a last resort loans, but my credit sucks.

I go to UTHSCSA and kinda feel like we don't get enough hands on preparation although nurse managers said they can teach us skills any day but we come in having the knowledge to know what's going on.

UIW and UTHSC are both excellent nursing institutions, but SAC is a more cost effective.. SAC is more hard core Nursing upfront and hands on than both UIW and UTHSC; however if BSN is your major than both are excellent choices...
