i have to get a loan. i need $15.000 for room/board, tuition, transportation, child care, books, etc. for fall and spring semesters. i've taken all the federal aid they're going to give me, i've called Sallie Mae, Citibank, myrichuncle, Astrive, and a few others.
i have stellar credit. But only about 13 months of it, and no cosigner. i'm completely skint and i have to fork out $80 for prescription cough syrup for my 4 year old, put gas in the most gigantic SUV known to man, and fix the power steering manifold so i can continue to get to school.
i have amazing credit. i haven't worked in 2 months and i'm still 6 months ahead on my truck payments, i've never gotten a credit card bill that wanted money because i always pay double what they want every month, and i always pay it early. i'm a damn grown up, and a responsible one at that...now give me money

Sounds like a very difficult situation. Is there anyone in your family that could help you out? Have you tried applying for scholarships at your school or through the nursing program? Financial aid offices usually have awesome people who know of ways to help you through school financially, or can at least direct you to someone who can.
I admire your strength and dedication to becoming a nurse and hope that your financial situation improves. All the best to you.
i have absolutely no idea what's going on in my fin aid office. No one seems to know what they're doing regarding scholarships...i have a 4.0 and i'm obviously at a financial disadvantage, but no one can figure out which scholarships are open, which ones i should apply for, or even where the forms are. Typical Wyoming, no one has the slightest clue what's going on at any given moment, they all think the jackelope is a real creature, and everyone has a horse named Trigger. This school is a joke.
Also, i have no family. The ONLY person who COULD help me has decided he's madly in love with me, he's knockout hot, he's got a sexy Irish accent, he's absolutely filthy rich...and i'm the farthest thing from attracted to him. Last year for my birthday, he gave me $10,000. And i think i made a mistake keeping it.
The only other option i can think of is to go back to working nights...in a bar. Where i was NOT a waitress, or a bartender...or anyone that got to keep her clothes on. Crazy money, i'd clear that much and then some inside 6 months. But frankly, i haven't had to work in a place like that for over a year, and i'm pretty sold on not going back. It's not exactly the safest place to work.
But i'm out of ideas. And they're hiring.

Is there something you can sell or refinance? For example, I see you have both a huge SUV and a truck. I assume you are single. Do you really need both of them? Could you sell one of them? Could you sell both of them and buy something cheaper to drive?
Err...no. SUV = Truck. i speak hick now
It's the same vehicle. And i pay $150/month for it, i still owe about $4000 on it, and really i have to have it to survive stupid Wyoming snow. i hate it here.
i sold everything of value so i could move back to the US from Canada. It's a long story, but i sort of started getting tired of my daughter's father smacking the hell out of us for sport. So in addition to everything else, there's also the subsequent costs of an international divorce/child custody case. That'll be fun.

You tried My Rich Uncle and they turned you down? I know they have this loan where you do not need a cosignor or any credit (you just can't have bad credit). It is called a Pre-Prime loan and what they consider is your major and GPA (which I think both are great for you). Try them again and make sure you apply for the Pre-Prime loan.
MRU didn't turn me down (yet), they're just taking forever.

Just want to let ya Know.....
After reading the above post I thought I would call my rich uncle and check them out.
The rep rudely told me that "My rich uncle does not have a "relationship" with Dallas county community college and therefor can not offer any students there a loan". I then asked him about a private loan since the funds would come to me, and not the school and he was like a parrot and simply repeated the above statement.
I am glad I already have a loan.....HOW RUDE....
i got the absolute best service from MRU, the people bent over backwards to help me out...they're apparently not very prompt but they were wonderful and i'll use them as soon as i can whether they approve me this time or not.
