I'm wondering if my degree choice is a mistake?

My goal is to become a NP. I am currently enrolled in an ASN program and will graduate December 2014. My plan is to start working and then start a MSN program. I already have a B.S. and M. Ed. in other fields. Am I making a mistake by getting the ASN rather than BSN? My initial thought was I would be able to get back into the workforce quicker, and I was going to keep on going to school for a MSN anyway. Any thoughts out there?

Ok, here are my two cents.

- You have already started on your ASN so its kinda too late to go back and start a BSN program and a waste of money.

- You are right you will be able to be out in the workfore faster and most places dont care if you have a BSN or a ASN.

- You can do a Rn to MSN program while working.

- You will be more marketable as a NP because you have more RN experience regardless if it is BSN or ASN.

So no I dont think you are making a bad decision, its quite smart actually.
