At the risk of looking like the huge dork that I am...here goes.. After 4 yrs without a vacation, we are heading to Virginia Beach this summer. I wonder if I can get your opinions on what to do, where to eat, any "can't miss it" things. I appreciate any suggestions, thanks!

I would say enjoy. What would you to do or see? What type of food would you like to have?
Just would like to experience a fun family vacation, need some "kid" stuff to entertain my son (4yrs), the girls I think will find entertainment on the beach (teenagers, God save me!). I ask advice because typically there are so many tourist traps out there, we don't want to miss anything really nice.

Eat at Abbey Road. During the day if you have kids.
Thanks for the suggestion, Marie!:)
Va Marine Science Museum is always a cool place- both to see and get out of the sun.
I love the happy crab- plus they have hermit crab races daily. To watch a sunset- The Duck In.
If you wanted to wanted to drive to Norfolk- Nauticus is by town point park, the battleship Wisconsin is docked right next to it- if your son likes boats.
Hope that helps a little
Thanks so much!!! I'm really looking forward to this trip!

In Va. Beach, they have Ocean Breeze Water Park for families, your daughters can go their own way without u worrying much since it's in a secure place and u can chill with your son on the kiddie side. Right next to it is Motor World and Golfing. It's right before the ocean front I believe it's exit 22 (watch the brown signs) If u are looking for shopping(teenagers) Macarthur Mall in downtown norfolk is great so is Lynnhaven mall in Va. Beach. There's also some historic places in downtown norfolk (macarthur memorial) Norfolk has a Zoo, not really interesting though. They also have a cruise ship in Norfolk called the Spirit of Norfolk that is fun. It's alot of singing and dancing. Of course the oceanfront in Va. Beach is fun but it is too crowded for me plus I hate being in the sun too long. As for restaurants, I don't go anywhere too fancy, just like a place like Ruby Tuesdays. I'll write again if I remember some more.
may i ask where are u from, just wondering how far u going to vacation here!
Also the Virginia Aquarium.
Eat at The Raven (they have a restaurant side).
Log Cabin Pancake has a breakfast bar.
We're from Ohio. We have been told that VB is really nice and more family friendly than Mrytle Beach. Found a hotel on the beach. Looking very forward to going in a few weeks, esp after the cold rainy week we have had here. Thanks for your recommendations, feel free to keep adding as you think of more!
Virginia Beach doesn't have AS much commercial crap as Myrtle. However, i think Nags Head is more family oriented than Virginia Beach, even.
