I am a Swedish citizen who work as a RN in Sweden. I want to work in California. September 24 I am going to do the TOEFL-test in Camarillo, CA.
Are there any Swedish nurses (or anybody) here who can help me and/or give me some advices about the process of getting a nursing licence in CA? What I understand is that you can not do the NCLEX if you don't have an social security number?
How did You do??? Please help!!!

Unless you have a permanent visa, it will be very hard to work in the USA. CA will not look at your application for nurse not be accepted. Secondly, the Swedish nurses who did quality fail the test over 60% of the time.
Two bigger obstacles, visa and passing the nclex.

If you haven't already got a work visa or immigrant visa allowing you to live and work in the US then I suggest you read up on retrogression Where demand of visas outweigh the actual amount of visas allocated. Also there are several threads discussing CA and SSN as CA will no longer accept application without a SSN. no way round it
Ok, thank you. I will look in to it...
