I need help. I'm 16 years old and I'm about to graduate from high school (where I live we only go up to grade 11 for secondary education). I never knew what I wanted to do in life but I know it would involve helping people in anyway I can. Recently, there have been so many signs pointing to nursing and I truly feel like it's what I want to do. The problem is I never did chemistry, which I know is essential. Ugh. Additionally, it's too late to register for nursing for our local college. Yes I'm a hot mess, I know.
Also, every time I told someone what I want to do, they give me a weird look. They think it doesn't suit me because nursing is a demanding job and I'll do better behind a counter sharing out pills. This came from close family members. Boy, with all that support I was up and ready to pursue such a dream!
All in all, I just need answers. Please, I'm conflicted. Thanks in advance.

I recommend taking chemistry (as well as other necessary pre-requisites for your local college's nursing program) while you wait to apply for the next round of applications! Don't let others opinions of your career choice influence you. Your career is not to be decided by anyone but yourself. Good Luck!

You can try seeing if local hospitals in your area have volunteering and if you can do that.

I never took a chemistry class when i was in high school either. I later took a mix of general, bio, and organic chemistry. I'm not going to lie, it was difficult never having any chemistry experience in the past, but very possible! I wouldnt let something like this hold you back. :)

I didn't have chemistry in my background as well. I wound up taking it this past spring and I admit it was really difficult for me. I passed though. Also, make sure to contact schools to inquire about their nursing programs. Volunteer in a hospital or shadow a nurse.
Thanks much. I decided that I'm going to attend chemistry classes.
